Dhaka National Medical College, Bangladesh - About The College
Dhaka National Medical College is a private college in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The college was established during the non-cooperation movement of Indian Subcontinent against British colonial rule the Indian National Congress and the Indian Muslim League under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Mawlana Muhammad Ali, and Mawlana Shaukat Ali.
They urged the Non- Cooperation movement to boycott the educational institutions established by the British Government. They also decided to establish the National Schools and National Colleges for modern education. Therefore 2 Medical colleges were established. One in Calcutta named Calcutta National Medical Institute and another in Dhaka named Dhaka National Medical College. The college offered 4 years Medical Course at the beginning of their journey but the Government of Pakistan urged to replace the course by 5 years. But the Dhaka National Medical College could not open 5 years course due to the none cooperation of Pakistan Government. In 1994 under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Sadeque Hossan Khoka, the college’s foundation stone was laid by the former Prime Minister Of India in 1995.
The first batch enrollment were 63 students. There are almost 1502 graduate doctors that have passed out from college and now working in well-recognized hospitals. The college offers 5 years duration of MBBS course in Bangladesh. The college is considered among the top Medical Colleges in Bangladesh.

The College has a huge infrastructure with a total area of 1,54,000 sq. ft. College is a 11 storied fully air-conditioned teaching building.
It contains 1 library, 8 departments, 5 lecture halls, 1 conference room, 1 teacher’s lounge, 1 large examination hall, 1 seminar room, and much more. The advanced structure of the college provides the scopes of research to the students.

Dhaka National Medical College Classrooms well furnished, spacious classrooms equipped with the latest teaching aids such as LCD projectors, OHP, etc. are available to have a highly interactive session in the classroom teaching.
All classrooms are well-illuminated, properly ventilated, and with modern sitting. The medium of studying in the classroom is fully in English Language.
The college contains 2 hospitals with 650 inpatient beds in 7 storied building that was built in 1982 and another one is 6 storied building built in 2009.
The hospital is next to the teaching building and contains Out Patient Department (OPD), Operation Theatres, and residents quarters of the hospital’s doctors and nurses.
The library is located on the 5th floor of the building that has a huge area of about 8000 Square floor space and 2 reading rooms with the vast collection of books.
Internet facilities are also available that makes students study more effectively. The library contains more than 6000 books in it.

Hostel :The hostel of Dhaka National Medical College is around 2.5 kilometers away from the campus. There students have to pay 100 USD per month as the charges.
